Ladies continue their roll
The Lady Titans (23-2) continued their roll toward the State tournament, taking one step closer by defeating the Royals from Prince George last night 64-51. Cosby’s scoring was led by the University of Richmond bound Becca Wann who had 22 points 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Andrea Bertrand was right behind Becca with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Jazmin Pitts had 10 points and 8 blocked shots.
The outcome was never in doubt, but when the Titans win by less than 20 points, it is a close game. This was the first game since the Tennessee tournament where the margin of victory was less than 20 points. The “buzz saw” that has been cutting through opponents like a hot knife through butter will meet the Lady Springers from Highland Springs at the Siegel Center Thursday night at 7:45 (weather permitting).

12.08 - Cosby Crushes Cavs
From the opening tap to the closing horn, the Lady Titans were in control. The opening tip went to Becca Wann who fed Andrea Bertrand who laid it in. Cosby built a double digit lead before the Lady Cavs were able to break their ice. Clover Hill did not even make double digits until the second half. The game can be summed up by 3 things, the word “turnovers” Clover Hill had many, a very poor shooting percentage by the Lady Cavs and the Lady Titans hitting most everything they threw up. Titan subs played more than half the minutes and that was still not enough to for Clover Hill to scratch or crawl back into the game. Final 88-28.
12.04 - Pitts No. 2 Cosby too much for No. L.C. Bird
BK Photographs JV & V v. L.C. Bird
12.03 - Two, Lady’s Win 2nd in as many tries
The Lady Skyhawks were pesky and able keep themselves in the game for the better part of the first half. They did not have enough “guns” for the long run, to complete with the well rounded team Cosby had on the floor. The Lady Titans had mostly familiar faces returning from their 2009 run at the state title. There are a few new faces, one being freshman Adriane Vaughan who got a lot of minutes and contributed very well.
Play was “chippy” with many fouls called. Two players fouled out, one for each team. Bird also had 3 or 4 other players on the floor with 4 fouls when the game ended. Cosby went to the charity stripe more than Bird, making most of their free throws.
The “big three” can now be described as the “big four” with Kelsey Conyers filling the 4-spot. The “big four” led the way at both ends of the court, dominating on the defensive boards and scoring on offense.

Nov 12, 2009
Cosby High’s Jazmin Pitts, a 6-1 forward who was the T-D player of the year last year, has officially signed her letter of committment to play for U.Va. She has more than 750 rebounds through three years of varsity play for the Titans.
“Jaz committed a long time ago and her passion for Virginia is evident in everything that she does,” Virginia coach Debbie Ryan said in a statement. “She is a powerful small forward who can score and run the floor like a guard. She has tremendous strength and is very agile. We feel she has the chance to be a prolific rebounder at Virginia. She is dedicated to becoming the best she can be both on the floor and in the classroom. We are proud to have Jazmin as a Cavalier.”
