Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Volleyball team for defeating the previously unbeaten Great Bridge Wildcats last night at the Siegel Center in the semi-finals of the state tournament. The Titans will face Clover Hill for the state championship Friday night 8:00 at the Siegal Center. Everyone come out and support the team as we try to bring home the school’s first state championship.

 The Titans lost to Clover Hill in the Central Region finals tonight. Cosby won the first game but dropped the next three. The Titans will be in the state semifinals next Wednesday at the Siegel Center.

Titans uncoil Springers
 Cosby secured a berth in the State tournament next week by defeating Highland Springs this evening. They've also earned the right to play for the Central Region title tomorrow night against the winner of the Clover Hill - Deep Run match. The Titans beat a very good Highland Springs team dropping the first game, then rallying to win three straight. After dropping game one, the Titans made adjustments to their game plan, going a little bit away from the hard kill shot attempts into a more balanced hard shot / coy shot type of offense. These changes enabled Cosby to overcome a very good Highland Springs team and move onto the finals tomorrow night. Come out and support the boys, the game starts at 5:30 in the Cosby Gym.

The Varsity Boys Volleyball Team defeated Matoaca last night in three straight games in the first round of the central region tournament. Come out and cheer the Titans on to victory as we play in the semi-finals Wednesday at Cosby at 5:30!

 Cosby defeated Matoaca 3 games to 0 to advance to the Central Region semifinals on Wednesday night at Cosby. By the time you reach this level of play, all teams are good. Cosby did not crush their opponents, but they did beat them with authority. The Titans will face the winner of the Highland Springs / MWGS match @ 5:30pm.

10.19 - JV Wins 9th Annual JR Tucker Volleyball Tournament
Congratulations to the Boys JV Volleyball team for coming in first place at the 9th Annual J. R. Tucker High School Volleyball Tournament this weekend. Derek Sullivan led the team to victory with 20 Kills and 10 blocks, Will Newlon had 17 Kills and 5 Blocks, Jeremy Feister had 10 Kills and 10 digs. Brandon Cole also helped the team with 5 Aces. Quinn Rutledge had 32 assists and Bryan Miltenberger had 20 assists. Great Defensive Digs by Karson Clarke 17 and Dominic Vacca 10. Both Jeremy Feister and Derek Sullivan made the All-tournament team. A special congratulations goes to Derek Sullivan for being named the All Tournament MVP.
JV Boys won a 6 team tournament this weekend at J.R. Tucker High School. Very exciting! Came in 2nd last year, so this was a big tournament to win!

 The nearly full Cosby gym was treated to an exciting volleyball match which unfortunately did not turn out in favor of the home team. The first two games were tooth and nail, see-saw affairs. With one exception, neither team took greater than a 3 point lead. One point in game two, the Titans put up a five point lead, but that was short lived as Clover Hill closed that gap on their next service set.
Pretty evenly matched with the edge and most likely the difference in the games being the serves and kills in Clover Hill's favor. Both of the first two games could have gone either way. The third game was all Clover Hill. Lot of alumni home for the Columbus day holiday came out to support the team.

 It's been a few weeks since I've seen the Boys Volleyball team play. When watching the first game tonight, I could see why they are 13-2. They dispensed with LC Bird in short order. Games 2 and 3 were closer, as Cosby rotated personnel for the remainder of the match, ultimately beating the Skyhawks in a little over an hour. Thursday, the Boys play Clover Hill at home in what will most likely be the title game for the Dominion District. Be sure to come out and support the team.

 The Titans fell to non-district rival Atlee yesterday 3 sets to 1. The Titans did not look sharp, with several serves and kill shots not finding their mark.

Tryout Information: Tryouts will begin Monday August 10th (2:30-5:30). Prospective athletes must pass 5 out of 7 classes to tryout. Players will be evaluated on their volleyball skills, physical conditioning, athletic ability, coach ability, behavior and grades. All vacation plans need to be completed before Monday August 10th.
Open Gym: Open gym will be held for all boys interested in trying out on the following dates in the Cosby High School gym from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
