The Boys tennis team's number -1- doubles team of Brett Moorhead & Tyler Carey lost their first match of the year to the top rated players from DEEP RUN HS. Currently Brett & Tyler are 21-1 in doubles competition and came in second in the central regional tournament. On June 10 they will be playing in the quarter finals on the AAA State Tournament.

05.25 - Double Pair Moves to States
TYLER CAREY & BRETT MOORHEAD both played well in their 6-0, 6-0 semi finals doubles match. On wednesaday they play in the Central Region Finals and will later compete in the AAA State tennis tournament. They are the first two state tennis qualifiers in Cosby HS History. The doubles team is currently 21-0. They will play on June 10, in northern Virginia,
Both Tyler & Brett also lost their semi finals singles matches today.
05.25 - Central Region
Tournament favorite Hunter Koontz of Deep Run rolled through his quarterfinal match in the Central Region boys singles as he bids to upgrade his runner-up finish from a year ago.
Koontz, the Colonial District champion, thumped Steven Bond of Matoaca 6-0, 6-0 at Mills Godwin yesterday then teamed with Evan Charles to eliminate Bryan Sanders and Dominic Bulano of Cosby in a doubles quarterfinal.
Koontz's semifinal opponent is Cosby freshman Brett Moorhead, who crunched Henrico's Arjun Venkat 6-1, 6-0.
Moorhead, the Dominion District champ, is one of two Cosby players in the semifinals. Tyler Carey sent Capital champion Matt Zimmerman of Henrico packing with a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Carey will meet Zach Carl of Douglas Freeman in today's semifinals that begin at noon. Carl shutout Austin Hamilton of Thomas Dale 6-0, 6-0.
The doubles match of the day belonged to Carey and Moorhead against Edgar Vitkovski and Arjun Karthikeyan of Mills Godwin. The Godwin pair won the opening set 7-6 (7-4). The Titans' duo came back to win the second 7-5 and the third 6-2 to advance.

Brett Moorhead was the only Titan to win his singles match/everybody else played well but lost in the end.
Tyler-Brett-Dominic & Bryan play next week in the regional singles & doubles tournament.

Mills Godwin 5, Cosby 1
Ajay Sundar held off David Nichols 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles, helping Mills Godwin defeat Cosby 5-1 in the Central Region semifinals yesterday, sending the Titans to their first loss of the season. Brett Moorhead beat Arjun Karthikeyan 6-4, 6-3 to put Cosby on the board. The Eagles will host the championship today against Deep Run at 4 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s title game, in which Godwin came out on top.

The Cosby Boys Tennis Team won Tuesday night at Colonial Heights. Thirteen different players competed and everyone won their matches.
Coach Alberston will in the last lunch period to collect Handbook forms & tshirt money if practice is rained out.
