Cosby's Delano eyes milestone

Reaching the 100-victory plateau figured to be just a matter of time for Cosby's Anthony Delano, the defending Dominion District champion at 189 pounds who ended the 2008-09 season with 99 career wins.

It's taken a lot longer than he had hoped. Since he sustained a season-ending injury in the Titans' Oct. 30 football game against Varina, Delano has undergone physical therapy in an effort to salvage what he can from his final two months as a high school wrestler.

Cosby coach Mike Stefanko confirmed via e-mail yesterday that Delano was allowed to do "some light practice" last week, but he's still waiting for medical clearance to resume live competition. If he gets approval by this weekend, Delano will have a chance to join Cosby's 100-win club in a tournament at Chantilly High School.

"We definitely have missed him in the lineup the last couple of weeks," Stefanko wrote. "Hopefully, it will not take too long to shake the rust off."
