South Greene placed third in the Ladies’ Classic with a hard-earned 59-46 win over Cosby (Va.).
The Lady Rebels led nearly the entire way, but it wasn’t decided until they sealed the game at the foul line in the final seconds.
Trailing 29-18 at the half and by 10 on two different occasions early in the fourth quarter, Cosby rallied to cut the deficit to four with a little more than a minute and a half to play, but in the end South Greene’s 74.4 percent from the foul line kept the Lady Rebels out front until the final buzzer.
South Greene hit 29-of-39 foul shots. Rechelle Dye personally went 12-of-14, and Maelyn Cutshaw was 8-of-9.
Dye pulled the Lady Rebels to the winner’s stripe with 21 points, four assists, five steals and four rebounds.
Cutshaw finished with 17 points. Ashley Tweed scored nine and had a game-best nine rebounds for the Lady Rebels (10-4).
Cosby (6-2) was led by 17 points and seven rebounds from Andrea Bertrand. Jazmin Pitts scored 16 and had four steals.
