QB/DB thievery
Four area quarterbacks contributed interceptions as defensive backs last Friday.
Dylan Garthright of Atlee returned his pick 18 yards for a touchdown in the Raiders' victory over Henrico.
Powhatan's Shawn Minor picked off three passes in a Southside District victory over Greensville. He returned one 30 yards for a TD.
Fuller Hoepner concluded the first half of Cosby's game with L.C. Bird by intercepting an Anthony Harris pass.
Harris then returned the favor by picking off a Hoepner pass in the end zone in the second half and weaving through the Titans' defense for a 38-yard return.
"Things weren't going my way on offense so I tried to help the team on defense," said Harris, who most likely will play defense in college. "I was going to take a knee, but I saw blockers and wanted to make a play."
Unfortunately for the Skyhawks, they had to give back 30 yards because of two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, but they went on to win 21-14.
Garthright, Minor and Hoepner (twice) scored rushing TDs on offense. Harris threw a touchdown pass.
