Meadowbrook at Highland Springs, Sept. 11: A bellweather opener for each. It's the first meeting between these talented, T-D Top 10 teams that are shooting for Division 6 playoff berths. Each features a versatile QB. Each has returning All-Metro first-team players.

Lee-Davis at Patrick Henry, Sept. 25: The annual Tomato Bowl turns 50. Per the norm, both teams harbor hopes of playoff berths.

Varina at Hermitage, Sept. 25: T-D Top 10 powers are the favorites in their respective districts. The fact to remember is that the winner of this game the past two years has gone on to win the Central Region, Division 6 crown.

Highland Springs at Hanover/Varina at Lee-Davis, Oct. 2: District play begins in the Capital with the top four teams playing each other. Hanover has come close but has never beaten Highland Springs. Lee-Davis challenged the Blue Devils last year and could do so again.

Deep Run at Hermitage, Oct. 2: District play begins in the Colonial with the key matchup coming in week four instead of the late-season encounter it has been. Deep Run lost once last year, to Hermitage, and didn't make the playoffs. This is the Panthers' fourth straight game against a postseason contender.

L.C. Bird at Cosby, Oct. 9: A midseason game with meaning. L.C. Bird has won the Dominion District title 10 years in a row because the Skyhawks don't lose to district foes very often. The Titans have moved up to Division 6 after three years in Division 5 and appear to be Bird's chief challenger this year.

Dinwiddie at Thomas Dale, Oct. 16: Reigning Central Region Division 5 champion Dinwiddie hits the road for a key Central District encounter. Division 6 Thomas Dale is Dinwiddie's toughest opponent since the Generals' season opener against Varina. The winner takes a big step toward the district title.

Meadowbrook at Thomas Dale, Nov. 6: These teams met in the Central District opener the past two years, and the Knights have put a damper on Meadowbrook's title chances with surprising victories. The winner will be in good position to win the district's automatic berth in the region playoffs.

Varina at Highland Springs, Nov. 12: More than likely an all or nothing game for the Capital District title and a berth in the Division 6 playoffs. The teams could be ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the Times-Dispatch Top 10 Poll. They're playing on the Thursday night before the last regular-season Friday night.
