11.03 - Titans advance to Regional Semi's
The Titans opened regional play at home this evening against the JR Tucker Tigers. It took Cosby only 3 games and a little over an hour to win this match. That does not mean this was easy or a laugher. The first game began with a couple of nice kills and blocks by Grant Fields that put Cosby up by a few points, and the Titans never looked back in the first game.
The second game began in a similar manner with Cosby going up close to 9-1. At that point, the Tigers began to claw their way back running off 9 straight points. For the next 15 points or so, it looked like Tucker was going to take the second game. Up 23-19, the Tigers grip loosened and the Titans put up the next 4 points. Swapping points to 25 and the Tigers with the serve…. they put one into the net, and side-out. Cosby served for the win.
The third game saw much of the same back and forth action until Cosby finally pulled ahead to stay, with Grant Fields putting an exclamation point in the game with a kill for the final point.
Next up, regional semi’s being played at Patrick Henry High School.

10.28- Titans Headed to the Dominion District Tournament Finals
The Titans defeated Monacan 3 sets to 1 in Dominion District tournament semifinal action tonight. With this victory, they’ve earned the right to face the winner of the late semifinal action between James River and Clover Hill. The finals are scheduled for Thursday night at 7 in the Monacan gym.
Cosby kicked butt in the first two games, beating Monacan handily, only allowing 14 points in each game. The Titans had several kills, while their defense prevented almost all of what the Chiefs could hit at them. When the third game started, Monacan found themselves warmed up or they came out fired up and proceeded to fight tooth and nail and beat the Titans in a close contest 25-23. This continued amid the “funky home-court ceiling bounces” through most of the fourth game, the Chiefs swapping points and leads with the Titans, but Cosby pulled away when it was 16-16 ultimately downing the Monacan 25-17.

10.22 - Congratulations
Congratulations to the Varsity boys Volleyball team for clinching the regular season Dominion District Championship last night by defeating Manchester. The Titans improved to (16-3) overall and (11-1) in the district. The team will open up the first round of the district tournament on Tuesday October 30th at 6:00 p.m. at Monacan High School.
The JV boys volleyball team concluded its season last night with a win over Manchester. The team finished the season with an overall (16-3) record.
10.21 - Cosby defeats Manchester in 3
The Titans closed out their regular season tonight with a straight set victory over Manchester. Cosby finishes first in the Dominion District with an 11-1 record, 16-3 overall. The Titans are ranked 3rd in the region and will open the regional playoffs at home the week of November 3rd. Before they focus on that game, they need to play in the district tournaments beginning next week.
Tonight was senior night. Cosby will be graduating 6 seniors from this year’s roster: Matt Kipp, Kyle Clark, Jon Fields, Jackson Miller, Steven Higbie and Grant Fields. Each player was introduced before the game. When the game began, it was all one sided. Cosby was like a cat playing with a mouse. This isn’t taking anything away from the Lancers. I agree with their crowd and think they were the recipient of a few bad calls. Even had those gone the Lancer way, it would not have made a different in the final outcome as the Titans simply out matched them.
Next game is the Dominion District tournament.
